techfinder.org.au is a central resource for people who are Deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired to find the latest on communication technology.
The site provides information for all stages of life – at school, work, home and day to day. It’s designed to be a community hub where people share their experiences and advice with one another in the form of product reviews, blog posts and Auslan vlogs. New content is added every week, including product descriptions, resources, real life stories and more.
We want to show people what's available, so they feel confident to make informed choices about which technology is right for them.
techfinder.org.au is powered by Conexu Foundation. Conexu is the go-to national not for profit organisation in technology-based communication access for Deaf, hard of hearing and speech impaired Australians.
Here’s the story so far:
Identifying the need
It’s no secret that learning how to use new technology can be challenging. While there's information on products and services out there, research into unmet needs showed a need for a central, accessible information source people can understand and trust.
Following our research, we held a number of community focus groups, met with organisations and did one-on-one community testing to develop the site and make sure it was relevant, useful and accessible.
Launch of techfinder.org.au
In October 2015, techfinder.org.au went live. But that was just the beginning. The articles, resources, and videos on the site will continue to grow. We’ll be adding more Auslan videos and fresh new content to keep you connected and up to date with the latest information. Importantly, the information will come from the community, providing real-life reviews, stories and experiences.
